2002 Syrah

THE VINEYARD:

Julie and Jerry Hollander's vineyard in Calaveras County provided 67% of the fruit for our third vintage of Syrah. The balance was from our new estate Syrah and Grenache vineyards.

THE WINE:

This Syrah has fragrant aromas of berry, smoke, and spice. It is brimming with rich flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and notes of licorice, leather, and white pepper.

WINEMAKER NOTES:

Our third vintage of Syrah shows forward fruit that is well-balanced with the tannins. The wine is very enjoyable now and should age well for at least two or three more years.

PERFECT PAIRS:

Risotto with porcini mushrooms, grilled duck breast, duck confit, pork roast, or hearty stews.
